2018 has brought some new and exciting changes for us with a heated floor for yoga and beautiful new shop interior designed by James Gaywood. It has been a wonderful start to the year!! thanks for all your support and for believing in independent shops and our yoga community. We are all very grateful to all of you for making Bermondsey Fayre so special and unique.
THANK YOU ALL FOR VOTING FOR US!! WE HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE RUNNERS UP POSITION IN TIME OUT #LOVELONDON AWARDS AND THE WINNERS WERE THE MASSIVE MARKET MALTBY STREET! SO WE ARE SO CHUFFED!!!!
It feels like an acknowledgement of what we intended right from the start to create a community space full of a whole lot of love!!
I had this great reminder this week from FB – of a call out I wrote 7 years ago –
“Calling all creative artists, artisans, conscious creators… new shop opening in up and coming area of Bermondsey St, London Bridge – will be a ‘fayre’ encompassing all arts from independent traders- some call these things a ‘lifestyle shop’ – if you have anything you like to sell- that is made with love-get in touch – it will begin with air of xmas market…. drop me a line…asap…” and here we are nearly at our 7th birthday!!
For those new to Bermondsey Fayre we are a boutique gallery with a difference. We believe in strengthening and celebrating community through arts, creativity and shared activities – yoga being our main activity when the shop isn’t open.
The shop part of Bermondsey Fayre supports local and independent artists and designers to sell their beautiful creations all made with love. This part began with Liz Dillon, the owner and her friends who are beautiful clothes designers. Liz was wearing their clothes and was often asked where she bought them and figured it would be great to bring them to a central space in London. As the shop evolved different artists emerged along the way either knocking at the door or Liz met them in a field at a festival displaying their wares!
The yoga space – the quirky yoga space was created as soon as Liz could get past the building issues in the early days. There are regular classes now held almost every day! Liz and several other teachers bring their magic and teach the classes. Classes are kept small and allow for intimacy and a wonderful sense of community. class schedule »
The gallery/event space – The same space at the back of the shop has also been used for various art exhibitions and even charity pop up gigs of poetry, music and spoken word. There are also some more regular events that happen including fortnightly meditation with Birgitta Bernhard and style evenings with local stylist Hannah Jean click here to find out more events »
